Salmon Bay Marine Center sits at one of Seattle’s most distinctive addresses — on the Ballard Ship Canal in the heart of Magnolia, at the meeting point of three of the city’s most livable and well-served neighborhoods. It’s not downtown. That’s the point.

The maritime setting.

The Ship Canal is working water. On any given morning, you might watch a seiner heading out through the Ballard Locks, a superyacht being positioned in our slips, or rowers working out. This isn’t manufactured waterfront ambiance — it’s a genuine piece of Seattle’s maritime infrastructure, active and alive, and your office looks right out onto it. Fisherman’s Terminal, home to the North Pacific fishing fleet, is less than half a mile away. The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks — one of Seattle’s most visited landmarks — are a ten-minute walk. The water here has a history and a purpose, and working alongside it feels different from working next to a decorative fountain in a corporate plaza.

Location: the sweet spot between neighborhoods.

SBMC occupies a quiet but exceptionally convenient pocket of the city — technically in Magnolia, but equidistant from some of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Ballard is minutes away by car or bike, with its concentration of independent restaurants, breweries, and the weekend Farmers Market. Queen Anne is equally close, with its village feel, Canlis on the hill, and easy access to Seattle Center and the waterfront. Fremont — the self-declared center of the universe — is a short ride along the ship canal trail.
